Umdoni local muncipality is located in KwaZulu-Natal witin the Ugu District unicipality (DC21) Its Main Office is located on the Cnr of Bram Fischer and Williamson Street in Scotturgh.
UMDONI MUNICIPAL COUNCIL
Umdoni Council comprises of 19 Ward Councillors and 18 Proportional Representive (PR) Councillors. The municiality incorporates 7 Traditional Autority areas. The Traditional Athorities fall under the Ugu Local House of Traditional Leaders in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN).
OUR BEACHES
Umdoni local municipality is a tourism destination that boasts 40km of coastline which translates to 12 bathing beaches under this municipality namely Scottburgh Beach, Park Rymie Beach, Preston Beach, Rocky Bay Beach, Happy Wanderes Beach, Salmon Rise Beach, Penningotn Beach, Sezela Beach, Ifafa Beach, Bazely Beach and Umthwalume Beach.

EXPANDED PUBLIC WORKS PROGRAMME
A number of locals have benefitted from government's Expanded Public Works Progrmme that has ensured temporary emploement of the Youth, Women and Disabled members of the Umdoni community. This programme is part of the government's ongoing initiative of fighting the scourge of poverty, unemployent and inequality.
YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
The Youth Development office is working towards ensuring that the needs of the Youth are adhered to, empowering of the Youth though skills development, trainings, career guidance, and unlocking business opportunities for the Youth of Umdoni.

UMDONI MUNICIPALITY MAYORAL IZIMBIZO 2022
The Local Government Systems Act 32 of 2000 calls for all municipalities to encourage and create conditions for the local community to participate in the affairs of the municipality. It is therefore against this background that Umdoni municipality in collaboration with Ugu District Municipality is undertaking the process of the annual Mayoral Izimbizo 2022/2023.
The public representatives are reaching out and interacting with the Umdoni community on service delivery while simultaneously giving communities a platform to put on record other service delivery requests in preparation for the drafting of the new service delivery budget for the 2023/24 financial year.
The Umdoni community is therefore requested to utilize this democratic process for maximum benefit. The Mayoral Izimbizo have been scheduled as follows:

Bids for B8/2022 and B9/2022 must be put in a zipped folder and emailed to tenders@parliament.gov.za by no later than the closing date and time as stipulated above. Alternatively, sealed and completed bids, clearly marked with the Bid Number, must be deposited in the Bid Box at Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre, Port Shepstone before the closing date and time. Late submissions will not be considered.
The 80/20 Preferential Point System is applicable for these bids.
Parliament will require other services like audio visual equipment, language interpretation services, conferencing facilities as well as ablution facilities. RFQ documents for these services will be issued at the briefing session and they will also be made available on all the above-mentioned websites. Suppliers must attend the compulsory briefing session as indicated above. Suppliers are encouraged to register on Treasury’s National Database.

PUBLIC NOTICE FOR THE OWNER’S OF VACANT PROPERTIES WITHIN UMDONI LOCAL MUNICIPLITY, KWAZULU-NATAL. Notice no: MN 30/ 2023.
Notice is hereby to inform the property owners to clear the overgrown vegetation to their vacant properties following the numerous complaints of the overgrown vacant properties within the jurisdiction of the uMdoni Municipaliy. The overgrown property is deemed to be a nuisance and a potential source of danger to the public.
In an attempt to remedy the situation in accordance with Chapter 6 (1) and Chapter 8 (1) of the of the Umdoni Municipal bylaws as published in the Provincial Gazette of KwaZulu-Natal No. 11 of 2006, you are hereby instructed to ensure that all alien invasive vegetation as listed under The National Environmental Management: Biodiversity Act Regulations (Act 10 of 2004) that is growing in your property is cleared on or before - 30 March 2023.
Should you fail to comply with this notice, the Umdoni Municipality will take measures it considers necessary to undertake the clearing procedures. Thereafter the Umdoni Municipality will claim reimbursement from you for all cost incurred pertaining to the clearing of the property.
Please note, this notice serves for the clearing of rampant undergrowth and alien vegetation only, thus you are reminded that indigenous trees may not be removed or harmed in anyway. The Umdoni Municipality has the authority to impose severe penalties or fines if an indigenous tree is harmed or removed without the authorisation of the Municipality. Therefore, it is in your best interest to ensure that indigenous vegetation is not removed or harmed while the property is being cleared.
Should you require assistance in the identification of the vegetation on your property please contact the Municipal Environmental Department.
Your urgent attention and cooperation regarding these matters is required.
