Mr. Siyabonga Mngadi is the General Manager for the Technical Services Department. He has over 08 Years’ experience at management level and over 5 years’ experience at Senior Management level. He has great experience within the local government environment having worked as a General Manager Technical Services in the disestablished Ezinqoleni Municipality for 5 years.
About Technical Services Department
The Technical Services Business Unit is responsible for all infrastructure development & maintenance of such infrastructure to ensure the wellbeing of the communities in the jurisdiction of Umdoni. The Units function includes: -
• Roads & Stormwater
• Waste Management
• Human Settlements
• Fleet Management
• Project Management
Roads & Stormwater – This section is responsible for: -
• Ensuring infrastructure for economic development through the provision of functional roads & stormwater
• Maintenance of the Urban Road Network
• Maintenance of the Rural Roads Network
• Maintenance of the Umdoni Stormwater Management System
Waste Management – This section is responsible for: -
• Ensuring that Waste generated is collected, removed and disposed of
• Place communal skips at various strategic points in various peri-urban and emptying thereof
• Litter Picking
• Street Sweeping
• Cleaning of Public Ablutions
• Run recycling projects for environmental awareness
Human Settlements – This section is responsible for: -
• Housing Consumer education
• Tenants awareness programmes
• Handling issues pertaining to Housing subsidies
• National Housing Needs Register
• Rental Housing Tribunal
• RDP Housing Projects Management
Fleet Management Unit – This section is responsible for: -
• Minimize Risks associated with the Umdoni vehicle investment
• Improving efficiency, productivity and reducing overall transportation & Staff costs
• Fleet Management Mechanical Workshop
• Fuel Management
• Health & Safety of Municipal Fleet
Project Management Unit – This section is responsible for: -
• Provision, development, extension of infrastructural Networks
• To design, develop, improve and maintain a safe and efficient road network so as to satisfy both the individual and business needs of the Municipality,
• Development of municipal Basic Infrastructure; Community Halls, Sports Fields, Roads Network.
• Management of Municipal Infrastructure Grant (MIG) and Integrated National Electrification Programme (INEP)
